FRI 8/21: FTS – CALLING A 2ND/FINAL SELL SIGNAL @ $54.90 -6.8%

3:59 PM – Calling a 2ND and FINAL SELL SIGNAL just before the close as shares sell off this afternoon and break below the ROUND-$55 support level while volume runs 28% above average. The combination of continued price weakness, a loss of support, and increased selling volume confirms further technical deterioration and closes out coverage on this selection.

ULTRA Trader’s Tip: Increased Volume Confirms the Weakness

  • Breaking a previously identified support level is an important technical violation.

  • When that break occurs on above-average volume, it adds conviction to the bearish action.

  • When price and volume confirm continued weakness, follow the signal and move on.

MON 8/3: FTS – SELLING (1/2) P/L: -$395.96 -3.7%

3:44 PM – Selling all of my FTS position this afternoon as we head into the close. After recently losing support at the 10 DMA, shares are now clearly breaking below the 50 DMA while the 10 DMA is rolling over. With multiple signs of technical deterioration stacking up, I’m closing out the position and protecting capital.

James’ Trader’s Tip: Technical Weakness Often Builds in Stages

  • Losing the 10 DMA is often the first warning that short-term momentum is weakening.

  • A subsequent break below the 50 DMA confirms more serious technical deterioration.

  • When weakness continues to build and key moving averages begin rolling over, respect the message and reduce exposure.

TUE 7/28: FTS – BUYING/ADDING TO (1/3) @ $58.98

9:40 AM – Adding another 1/3 position to FTS as shares advance from the 10 DMA to new highs on more than double their average volume. This powerful combination of price and volume confirms continued institutional demand and technical strength.

James’ Trader’s Tip: Exceptional Volume Strengthens the Signal

  • Volume running at more than twice the daily average signals unusually strong buying demand.

  • New highs reached on heavy volume carry greater technical significance than advances on light trade.

  • Adding in thirds allows us to increase exposure as the stock continues to confirm its strength.

WED 7/22: FTS – BUYING (1/3) @ $58.37

3:50 PM – Picking up a 1/3 position in this utility stock as shares advance from the 10 DMA on a 21% increase in volume. The combination of improving price action and expanding volume gives us a technical BUY SIGNAL, so I’m starting with my usual 1/3 position.

James’ Trader’s Tip: Buy Stocks Showing Institutional Demand

  • Price advances accompanied by increasing volume often indicate institutional buying.

  • Stocks moving higher from the 10 DMA frequently signal that buyers are stepping back in.

  • Strong price action supported by expanding volume provides a higher-probability technical entry.

FRI 7/17: FTS – CALLING A BUY SIGNAL (1/3) @ $58.88

3:57 PM – Calling an initial BUY SIGNAL in this electric power generation and distribution company just before the close. Yesterday, shares posted bullish, volume-backed gains and closed at a new high. The stock is extending those gains today with volume running approximately 85% above average, providing further confirmation of institutional demand.

ULTRA Trader’s Tip: New Highs With Volume Are Bullish

  • A new high close confirms that buyers are willing to pay increasingly higher prices.

  • Continued gains on above-average volume suggest the move is being supported by strong demand.

  • When bullish action carries into the following session, it provides additional confirmation that the breakout may have staying power.
